O ITALIJANSKOM JEZIKU NAUKE I STRUKE OD SREDNJEG VEKA DO DANAS [SULL’ITALIANO PER SCOPI SCIENTIFICI E PROFESSIONALI DAL MEDIOEVO AD OGGI].
Abstract

O italijanskom jeziku nauke i struke od srednjeg veka do danas (On Italian as a Language for Academic and Professional Purposes from the Middle Ages to the Present Day). Belgrade: Faculty of Philology.
The monograph "On Italian as a Language for Academic and Professional Purposes from the Middle Ages to the Present Day" examines the complex and highly interesting topic of development of Italian as an academic and professional language. In addition to the presentation of the Italian academic and professional language with its lexical, morphosyntactic, discourse and sociolinguistic features, the monograph summarises the development of vulgar Latin that replaced Latin as the medieval lingua franca of the humanistic, legal, medical, scientific and philosophical worlds. It continues with the presentation of Italian as an academic and professional language through centuries, up to the tumultuous twentieth century, in which progress significantly influenced academic and professional languages. In the field of science and technology, the emerging realities required new linguistic elements that could be used to describe them, at the same time bringing new challenges to translators and all users of Italian as an academic and professional language.
